Hi My name is Tina (@pngpride21) & I am a proud Indigenous woman whose heritage is Papua New Guinean & Torres Strait Islander ....
I would like to share with you my own personal interpretation of the story behind the Songline.
The story, passed onto me from my Ancestors and Elders, talks of a person’s journey through life. Using certain symbols to bring to life one’s (women’s) life travels on canvas.
*In the first canvas the symbol of the bull shark in the middle represents The totem of the Eora First Nations people on Gadigal Land. Each songline represents each woman’s life story of turmoil and triumph.
*The second canvas represents the Tree of Life and Hope, symbolising that through regrowth A New Life & A New Beginning has begun...
*The final canvas is My Journey.
Symbolising my heritage, on the left the Bird of Paradise, and the TSI symbol on the right. In the middle the footprints of Me and my Son. The red circle above was my beginning showing the hard dark and stormy times in blue through my alcohol addiction. On the right hand side shows the footprints of Me and my Son now that I am sober & in recovery, walking back to the centre, which is the unbroken bond of mother and child 💗
