AFL star Karmichael Hunt and Gold Coast Titans NRL stars Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling will face a Gold Coast Court today after being charged with supply and handling of a dangerous drug.
Charged with four counts of supplying cocaine, Queensland Reds player Hunt will appear in court alongside former team mates Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling who have each been charged with six counts of supply and seven counts of possessing a drug.
Six other Titans players including State of Origin stars Greg Bird and David Taylor have also been caught up in the scandal that has rocked the NRL and sent the 2015 Kick off into a spin.
Gold Coast lawyer Campbell MacCallum, who represents several of the Titans’ players including Dowling, said he expects the appearance in court today will be fairly straightforward.
Meanwhile the Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) has also issued a warrant for the arrest of former Brisbane Bronco Steve Michaels as part of its investigation into drugs trafficking. Michaels is currently in the UK, playing in England’s Super League competition.
Titans coach Neil Henry has expressed his urge for the five current players who’ve been stood down to return to team duties after their initial court appearance. Whether the decision is made to allow the stars to play, Falloon and Dowling will likely have no chance of playing against the West Tigers until Monday’s appearances.
