Spanish football champions Real Madrid have signed a six year contract for Brazilian right-back Danilo from Portuguese club Porto.

According to a statement from the Portuguese stock exchange, the contract is worth 31.5 million euros (A$47 million).

Danilo will join the club next season with a contract that will keep him playing until the end of the 2021 season.

The 23-year-old defender played for Porto in 2012 and has so far won two league titles as well as playing a big role in the team’s journey to the quarter-final of the Champions League where they will play against Bayern Munich next month.

Danilo also won a silver medal for Brazil during the 2012 Olympics and has become a regular in the Brazilian national team since the disappointing loss against Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup on home soil.
