It’s been 20 years since the opening of Sydney Olympic Stadium – currently known as ANZ Stadium. Before the 2000 Sydney Olympics, “Stadium Australia” as it was first officially known, hosted several sporting events which produced record crowds back in 1999.

BY OLIVIA CVETANOVSKI 25-year-old weightlifter, Malek Chamoun from Summer Hill is the first ever legally blind athlete to qualify for the Australian Commonwealth Games Team. The teams have not yet been confirmed and will be revealed by June, but the Australian Weightlifting Federation says there is no doubt he will make it.
