The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month returns this October with an expanded program, new dinners, international and local celebrity chefs, and more feature events than ever before.

The festival includes events spanning the entire month, starting off with the Growers Market and Best of the Brunch in Pyrmont on October 3. Creative director of the festival Myffy Rigby says, “This year’s program is jam-packed with everything food-lovers could want. We’re championing local talent by reviving our ‘Hats Off’ dinners, staging wild picnics and so much more.”

One of the most popular events of the month is the famed Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park, running from October 8 to 25. This year a record number of stall-holders – 50 at last count – will spread across Hyde Park with an explosion of bright lights, colourful lanterns and appetising aromas reminiscent of a bustling Asian street market. With offerings from restaurants such as Toko, Din Tai Fung, Mamak and Bao Time, this free event is a definite crowd pleaser (i.e. get in early!) As well as the delicious food on offer, there are also bars and installations, giving a festival vibe to the night.

The 2015 Good Food Month is also adding some new events to the programme: Sweetfest, Eat Art, and Eat the City. Sweetfest (October 17-18) brings together some of the world’s best pastry and dessert makers to offer masterclasses to the public, including Alistair Wise from Sweet Envy in Hobart, and Christina Tosi from Momofuku Milk Bar in New York.

Eat Art (October 4 – 28) hosts dinner parties in artistic locations such as The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Art Gallery of NSW and The Sydney Opera House’s green room. The dinner on October 14 is an exclusive long-table dining experience in one of Sydney’s most unique and historical outdoor venues, the National Art School.

Eat the City (October 1 – 31) takes pop up restaurants, festivals, and community parties to the streets of Sydney. From the Norton Street Italian Festa, to the Strathfield Food Festival, to the World on a Plate event in Martin Place put on by Liverpool Council, communities across Sydney will have a chance to get involved.
